Still giving hope and help after 29 years
Cape Town Drug Counselling Centre has been part of the Observatory landscape since 1985. With newly appointed Director Ashley Potts at the helm, we are based at 1 Roman Road.
With 6-week programs designed specifically for women, men and adolescents, our services include individual, group and family counseling; lectures; medical and psychiatric services; acupuncture and aromatherapy. Free HIV counseling and testing are also offered.
We view addiction as an illness, which impacts hugely on those close to the addict. Families are included in the treatment process right from the outset, and attend a one-morning Family Workshop.
Inpatient treatment may be required by some clients, and we assist with these referrals.
Headed by a Clinical Psychologist, our clinical team are all professionals qualified in the fields of Social Work and Psychology, with a passion for addiction work. They respond to close on 200 telephonic, email, and walk-in enquiries every month, making us a highly accessible resource in the community.
As an NGO in challenging economic times, we have done extremely well to survive for 27yrs. However funding remains an ongoing challenge, as government subsidies only covers a portion of our running costs. Assistance in this area is thus always welcomed.

In the words of one of our former clients, “Don’t give up, you will get your life back – I have and I am grateful to CTDCC as they are people who understand and care.” |
